The free item is the Puffle Bandana (Pirate Ship) and a Sailor Hat (Plaza)… The hat items are the BEST! 
The secret pin is the Gem. Put your cursor over the treasure chest in the Ski Village.
There are 3 new stories. my FAVOURITE one was about the Pizza Panic Rush. That story was so cool!
